Microsoft Confirms Smaller Windows 8 Tablets

There were already rumors that Microsoft might launch smaller Windows 8 Tablets due to poor sale of 10.6 inch Surface RT and Pro. But now, Microsoft has confirmed that it will launch 7 inch and 8 inch Windows 8 tablets later this year.  These smaller tablets may come with Windows 8.1 pre-installed (which is a major update to Windows 8).

This move will enable a screen resolution of 1024 * 768 and hence, future 10-inch tablets may get cheaper. In Windows 8.1, Microsoft has decreased the minimum screen resolution required for Snapping to 1024 * 768. We expect a good hardware in smaller Surface at a low price.
A report says that Microsoft is thinking to release smaller ‘Surface(s)’ at a competitive price to compete with Kindle Fire, Nexus 7 and iPad Mini like 7-8 inch tablets.
