Redesigned Start Menu Is Coming Back In Next Version Of Windows

Yesterday, at Microsoft’s BUILD Conference, it announced that it is going to bring back the start menu to Windows. When? Certainly in Windows 8.2 or Windows 9. Microsoft didn’t speak a word about the next version yet but it has demonstrated the new start menu coming in a major update which will release later this year. Below is an image of the new start menu taken by The Verge.

The new start menu is of the same size as that of Windows 7’s. We can pin Modern apps along one side which is pretty interesting. It may be considered as a short form of Start Screen. This change is brought to make Windows more friendly to Mouse and Keyboard users.

It should be noted that Microsoft is going to release Windows 8.1 Update 1 on April 8 of this year. The existing Windows 8.1 users will be able to update via Windows Update while existing Windows 8 users will have to rely upon Windows Store. The new start menu won’t be a part of this update. Instead, it will come in lights in the major update releasing later this year.
